I, like many Americans, appreciate the separation between church and state that has guided American thought and action, private and public, for generations.

Would you like this separation, this wall, to be weakened or would you like it to continue unobstructed? Would you like some government agency to have the power to dictate your religious observences to comply to its political whim?

No? Then perhaps you should refrain from attempting to inject your religious whims into our political lives. If you open a door, you allow traffic in both directions.
