Is patriotism really a hayseed phenomenon?

There is a fellow atheist, Seth Andrews, I like to follow. There is also a religionist (a devout Jew) I like to follow, Dennis Prager. This is not just because I like to expose myself to a diversity of views, but I honest admire much of what they have to say.

There are also elements about them I can freely admit that I share with each of them and elements where there is no common ground at all.

Andrews is an atheist; as am I. However, he leans to the Left while I lean to the Right.

Prager leans to the Right; as do I. However, he believes in God while I reject the entire idea of any kind of supernatural realm.

I noticed a while ago, that they seem to be almost perfect mirror images of each other. By this, I don’t mean that one is a devout atheist and the other is a firm Believer. It’s how they build their arguments when they discuss religion and when they discuss something else, say, current events.

Andrews is a logic machine when the topic is religion. His arguments are devastating and I can appreciate them. When he discusses current events, however, all we get is emotion and logical fallacies.

Prager’s logical analysis of current events can’t be beat. He can attack a Left-wing idea or support a…
